1–2–1 Support with The Wren Project
Compassionate listening for people living with autoimmune disease
Living with an autoimmune disease can be exhausting physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Living with an autoimmune disease can be exhausting physically, mentally, and emotionally. The Wren Project offers free one-to-one listening support for anyone in the UK affected by diseases such as autoimmune hepatitis, lupus, Crohn’s disease, coeliac disease, ankylosing spondylitis, and other autoimmune disorders.
Our trained volunteers listen with warmth and compassion. They do not give disease-specific advice, or offer a 'fix;' instead we listen and quietly support while you explore how you feel. We help you to feel less alone.

What 1–2–1 support looks like
Who our support is for
We offer free listening support to anyone living with a diagnosed autoimmune disease in the UK. You have to be over the age of 18 to receive our support. To apply, simply head to our application form [LINK HERE] and a member of our team will be in touch.
We exist to offer people living with the grief, isolation and hopelessness of a diagnosis a space to talk openly and honestly about how they are feeling. We are not here to fix or offer advice; instead we offer regular safe spaces for you to feel heard. What does a listening session look like?
Each listening session is an opportunity for you to talk about whatever you would like. You might talk about the emotional impact of your disease, how it is affecting you physically;, your relationships, work, or quality of life. Your volunteer listens without judgement and without offering solutions. It is a calm, confidential space to be honest and to breathe again.
You will meet with the same volunteer for each session, helping you build a rapport and trust.
You will be matched with a volunteer who you will meet regularly, once a fortnight, for up to 50 minutes. Sessions take place online or by phone. Your volunteer is trained to listen and stays with you throughout your time with Wren, offering calm and steady support.
There is no diagnosis requirement and no waiting list for one-to-one support.
Whether you are looking for help around autoimmune symptoms, IBD support, Crohn’s resources, or simply someone who understands life with chronic uncertainty, we offer space to exhale.
